Wine and oil in the heart of Castile: discovering the secrets of the Mediterranean diet
With this getaway we invite you to discover two of the great stars of Spanish gastronomy in a same experience, in the heart of Castile and Leon. With these exclusive visits offered by Bodegas Familiares Matarromera, we offer excellence in white wine and red wine, but also in extra virgin olive oil.
From the hotel Parador de Tordesillas, an ideal place for wine tourism and to visit the many castles and Romanesque jewels of the area, head to Medina del Campo for a visit to the Emina Rueda winery and the Oliduero olive oil factory. Attached to the winery, this is the first organic olive oil production in Castile and Leon and its Extra Virgin oils offer an interesting pairing with the famous white wines of Rueda.
The next day, head to the banks of the Douro for a premium visit to Matarromera winery, which includes the tasting of its best wines. Awarded as «Best Wine in the World» in 1995, the prestigious winery (cover picture) has recently known works of embellishment, and its owner Carlos Moro has received this year the award for Wine Tourism Merit in the framework of the Awards of “Spanish Wine Tourisme Routes”.
